Explorer with Dark Complexion is in possession of this stone which he received from his old mentor, Professorman Johnson, quite some time before the events of the movie.

The stone gives the location of the Jorwallis Pendant with an inscription in plain English which reads "Go to Mashashoozy Temple." HOWEVER! The Explorer has been reading it incorrectly upside-down and thinking it's some sort of lost ancient language. He's spent years deciphering it upside-down somehow and has incorrectly deduced that it is instructing him to go to MashaSHIZZY Temple which is only slightly different in name to MashaSHOOZY Temple but is a big difference because MashaSHOOZY has the Pendant while MashaSHIZZY has nothing interesting in it at all.

Due to some wacky complications, the explorers end up at Mashashoozy anyway and, in the process, Explorer with Dark complexion drops the stone, discovers he has been reading it upside-down the whole time and gets very upset about the fact that he's wasted his life reading the thing all wrong.

On the bright side, he and the other explorer realize they are at the right temple after all!
